This is just a good read. I can only imagine that the book is better.
Sigh. Another lunch-time post. And I guess it's particulary apt, seeing as how I spent many of my early working years in restaurants. A list of the things that piss servers off may be useful next time you go out to eat. By the way. You know what pisses a cook off? When you send your food back because it's not cooked right, and it's the way that you asked for it in the first place! But mostly, its the servers that make the cooks mad. So you don't have to worry about that so much.
And of course, everyone's linking to this. I wonder when they'll hit the top spot ;-)
It seems that the law is beginning to understand the net a little bit better. ISPs are not repsonsible for their client's content. Thass' right!
Oh, man. This is some sweet DHTML. And he credits The Dynamic Duo for the instruction.
Yea, baby... Open source for handhelds. I like it.

You know, there's just always that one link that you have to post right away... Check out the videos! [thanks to public blog]
A bunch of scaredy-cats don't like napster. Why? Well, their explanatory speech is based on old news, as are most of their other arguments - which echo the RIAA platform. Additionally, in it they blame Napster for protecting their copyright, the same exact thing they are whining about. Sheesh, people... Okay, one more time... let's run it down for those folks who just don't get it:
- All forms of traditional media are going to have to develop new revenue models.
- The internet has changed everything.
I agree with this article wholeheartedly.

Okay, I was going to wait until tomorrow to post this, but I can't wait. An article by the people who made Google - filled with all sorts of interesting information. C'mon, you know you wanna read it...
Aw, how cool... I was blogged. And it's only my second one (my first being rebecca's pocket). It just gives ya a warm fuzzy feeling all over to know that someone is actually reading what you write. In fact, that warm fuzzy feeling has inspired me to share with you a quote from one of my co-workers. To wit:
YOUR HOROSCOPE:
Today is the day to listen to your inner voice. Try to listen to only one voice at a time, and also try to listen only to the voice that sounds the friendliest. If you hear a voice saying, for example, "Let's go kill Tiffany's little kitten and write latin curse words on the walls in the kitten's blood," try not to follow that voice. The voice you're looking for will more likely say something like, "I like ice cream. Don't you?" or even "I think I'm happy today--let's hug someone." Now, that's the voice you want, right there.
Oh... I put perma-links on last night. If something really, really, tickles your fancy, well then just tell yourself "That's Weberrific"!
Amateur professional non-committed non-standard racing is achieving some modest level of success. As trumpeted on the main page, Grit Truck has achieved an astounding growth rate last year of over 400%.
Yesterday, I was looking for a freeware HTML editor. At home, I have my licensed version of HomeSite, well actually 2 versions. Hmmm. I guess I could bring one in to work. But anyway, I was searching for a freeware HTML editor. Typically, I use the editor previously known as 1st Page 2000, but they are in the process of upgrading the editor, so they have no downloads. Granted, I could go hunt for a mirror, but I was feeling lazy. I thought about getting HTML-Kit, but I wanted something simpler to quickly whip out a page or two with minimum learning curve. I mean, of course there's always NotePad, or - in my case - EditPad, but hand-coding just feels too slow to me these days. So I remembered about Arachnophilia, a CareWare editor that has consistently received good reviews from users. So I went and downloaded the sucker, and whilst follwing some links, came across this, which I had read some time ago and enjoyed, and was actually the inspiration for this atypically long-winded diatribe.
Update: Waiting for me in my inbox this morning was a mail message from the list at evolt.org: the v2.0 final release of 1st Page 2000 is available for download, though not from the home page.

This golfer can't sue! I find it shocking that the US court system actually kept someone from suing someone else. This is a proud day for the judicial branch of our government.
edocs enables companies to leverage the Internet and the bill & statement presentment process to deepen customer relationships. Hmmm.
I love low-tech games. Click on formator. The use of JavaScript and forms for interactivity amuses me to no end...
Hellobrain is quite interesting. It seems to deliver on the internet's promise of micro-targeting. I ran across a couple other similar sites while surfing the day I found this, but I lost the URLs. If you know of any, please let me know.

This story is an excellent read. Hackers and crackers and root, oh my!
This is a nice little tool to add to my web-helper applications.
From a co-worker, this cute 'lil article on the proper model for JSP development.
Always these sneaky, under-handed attempts to keep consumers in their pockets... When, oh when will they give it up and find a new revenue model? I really like the fact that DVD players are designed at the behest of Hollywood to play your movies in lousy analog format simply to keep you from making copies. Bleaggh.
What a fantastic Father's Day I had! My wife got me some super-snazzy new clothes, my daughter helped pick 'em, and my son gave me not only a baseball glove so I can play with him, but then he ran and got me $1.00 from his piggy bank. And then we went to Six Flags! I had a fantastic day! And tonight, I think me and the kids will walk to the Dairy Queen to spend that $1.00 my son gave me <wink> <wink>.
